The University of Phayao has been ranked 24th in Thailand and is also among the top 5 universities in the third group.
This ranking was revealed by the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, Spain, on July 25th, 2024. The University of Phayao has consistently maintained its position as one of the top 5 universities in the third group.
In Thailand, there are a total of 192 higher education institutions that are eligible to be ranked by Webometrics. The ranking criteria consists of three indicators:
1. Visibility (impact): This measures the number of links from external sites (subnets) that link to the university’s webpage, accounting for 50% of the overall ranking.
2. Openness: This indicator looks at the number of citations of research work by researchers whose data is in the Google Scholar database, accounting for 10% of the overall ranking.

3. Excellence: This indicator considers the number of papers and cited papers in the SCImago database from 2015-2023, accounting for 40% of the overall ranking.
