Dentists from UP Provide Oral Health Care for Children with Cleft Lip and Palate under the Project “Bright Smiles and Healthy Teeth for All Ages”
The School of Dentistry at the University of Phayao, under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Patcharawan Srisilapanan, Dean of the School of Dentistry, recently conducted a community outreach program to provide dental examinations and treatment planning for children with cleft lip and palate. The team, consisting of Dentists Chawalit Chanintonsongkhla, Associate Dean for Strategy and Organization Development, Dentists RuangKhao Pimonsri, and Dentists Sonkamon Promsila, visited local communities in Mueang Phayao, Dok Khamtai, and Mae Chai districts of Phayao Province. This service has been consistently offered in these areas. The most recent outreach was held on Wednesday, April 8th, 2025.
This initiative is part of the “Bright Smiles and Healthy Teeth for All Ages” project, a collaboration between the School of Dentistry, University of Phayao, and the Foundation for Northern Women’s Development. The project is carried out under a memorandum of understanding on academic service collaboration, with a focus on comprehensive oral health care for patients with cleft lip and palate. It aims to enhance long-term quality of life and promote confident living, while ensuring equal access to dental care services.
Activities included dental diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing oral health education to both patients and their caregivers. The program received strong support and cooperation from the local communities, reflecting the vital role of higher education institutions in driving academic services to genuinely benefit society through the integration of academic knowledge into practical, community-based applications.
