UP held its Royal Kathin Robe Offering Ceremony for 2024 at Wat Sri Khom Kham, a Royal Monastery located in Phayao Province.
On November 7th, 2024, the University of Phayao held its Royal Kathin Robe Offering Ceremony at Wat Si Khom Kham Royal Monastery in Phayao Province. Adjunct Professor Attapol Yaisawang, Chairman of the University Council, carried the Royal Kathin Robe to Wat Si Khom Kham. Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, the President of the University of Phayao, presided over the ceremony, offering the Royal Kathin Robe, granted by His Majesty the King, as an act of royal merit. The event was attended by university administrators, faculty, students, provincial officials, and local Buddhists at the main temple of Wat Si Khom Kham in Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang Phayao District. A total of 4,019,999.99 THB was donated as part of this year’s Royal Kathin offering.
In addition, the presiding official of the ceremony presented educational support funds to various institutions. Specifically, 20,000 THB was given to the Phra Pariyatti Dhamma School at Wat Sri Khom Kham, 55,000 THB to Pinitprasart School, and 20,000 THB to student leaders at the University of Phayao. This aligns with the university’s policy of promoting Buddhism and community service, as well as fostering a spirit of volunteerism and contributing to the development of a high-quality society.
