UP has recently been ranked joint 13th in Thailand according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2025.
The Times Higher Education (THE), the world’s leading university rankings recognized by educational institutions in Thailand and around the world, announced the results of the World University Rankings 2025 on October 9th, 2024. There were 1,907 educational institutions from 108 countries participating in the rankings. The University of Phayao was ranked 1501+ in the world and join 13th in Thailand, along with 7 other universities: Burapha University, Kasetsart University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Mahasarakham University, Naresuan University, Silpakorn University, and Srinakharinwirot University.
According to the Times Higher Education ranking this year, the University of Phayao has an overall score of 5 indicators, which are as follows:
Teaching scored 14.8 percent
Research Environment scored 10 percent
Research Quality scored 35.3 percent
Industry scored 18.2 percent
International Outlook scored 23.2 percent.
This year, The University of Phayao has received a good ranking as it is the third year participating in the rankings. It is expected that the university’s score will increase next year, as Phayao University has defined its role as a group 3 university for the development of local and other communities. The university aims to be a leading institute of higher learning, producing quality graduates and conducting research that contributes to national development. This research will be used to benefit communities and society, leading to sustainable social growth. In the current rankings, Chulalongkorn University holds the top spot in Thailand, followed by Mahidol University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Khon Kaen University, and Chiang Mai University in 4th place.
