EDF Foundation supports education for 8,464 Thai underprivileged students in 2024
Following the fundraising for 2024 academic year, the EDF Foundation (Education for Development Foundation) achieved 8,464 scholarships for needy students’ education support. Thanks to the generous public support from both in Thailand and overseas.
According to Mr Sunphet Nilrat, managing director of EDF Foundation, “On behalf of EDF Foundation management executives, I would like to thank all generous support from both in Thailand and overseas participating in our fundraising campaigns for underprivileged and disadvantaged children for the 2024 academic year.
He further said, “For 2024 academic year after closing the fundraising campaigns on 30 June 2024, we were able to receive 8,464 scholarships to provide to underprivileged students around Thailand, including 6,754 scholarships for underprivileged students in lower secondary schools, 147 scholarships for underprivileged outstanding students in lower secondary schools, 931 scholarships for underprivileged outstanding students in upper secondary / vocational schools, 305 scholarships for disable students integrated into regular schools, 276 scholarships for orphans affected by the unrest in the three-southern border provinces, 25 scholarships for students pursuing an associate degree, and 26 scholarships for university students.
“The 8,464 scholarships donated represent 88% of the 9,658 students on the waiting list for scholarships for the 2024 academic year. Meanwhile, our EDF Foundation’s scholarship team has been working on all scholarships process to ensure that all scholarships are disbursed by the first semester of the 2024 academic year. Once the process is complete, the EDF Foundation will send updates on the sponsored students to all donors.”
He added, “Your support is crucial in alleviating the educational expenses of underprivileged families. Financial hardship is a major factor contributing to school dropouts. Offering scholarships to underprivileged students not only help reduce these burdens but also inspire students to believe that educational opportunities can change for the betterment of their lives and their future.”
Meanwhile, the EDF Foundation commenced the 2025 scholarships fundraising campaign sine 1 July 2024 to provide educational support to those in need that the foundation believe will be not less than 10,000 underprivileged students nationwide.
