“Tang Wong Lao” CEO & MD share work experiences, passing on positive vibes to student interns at AP OPEN HOUSE 2024
AP Thailand Public Co., Ltd., the country’s leading property developer with a promise of Cheevit Dee Dee Tee Lueak Eng Dai, recently expanded learning horizons for university students participating in the ninth year of the company’s internship programme, AP OPEN HOUSE 2024, in a super special session called “Tang Wong Lao” which allowed two of AP’s most senior executives – CEO “Anuphong Assavabhokhin” and MD “Pichet Vipavasuphakorn” – to share the real-world experiences, more challenging-than-theory. The Gen Z interns also engaged in a Q&A session gaining valuable insights from industry veterans with the hope that the youngsters will be able to apply them with a positive attitude as they prepare for their careers after graduation, reflecting the executives’ message from the book “Cheevit Dee Dee Tee Lueak Eng Dai” – that the tougher the challenges, the more important it is to maintain a positive mindset. If you want to live a good life, it starts with your mindset.
Some of the stories and ideas shared in the session were drawn from the pages of the pocket book, titled the same as AP’s corporate vision – Cheevit Dee Dee Tee Lueak Eng Dai. This book was handed out to the interns, encouraging them to explore further and discover the principles that have shaped AP into the company it is today. At the “Tang Wong Lao” session, Mr. Anuphong Assavabhokhin, Chief Executive Officer, and
Mr. Pichet Vipavasuphakorn, Managing Director of AP Thailand Public Co., Ltd. offered candid insights from their personal work experiences with the hope to provide the interns with practical perspectives they could apply in their future careers. For example, on the subject of teamwork, both executives shared their experience of working together as partners. Despite their different personalities, they share the same goal and respect their differences, using them to their advantage in tandem with a shared outward mindset – where each considers the other’s needs, objectives, and challenges – which become a core element of AP’s corporate culture, fostering flexibility and openness across the organisation.
“The concept of an outward mindset has allowed both Khun Pichet and me to look at things in a different light. It has enriched our lives, particularly by helping us understand ourselves and those around us, enabling us to interact effectively with people from different generations. A successful company is the natural outcome of this approach,” said Mr. Anuphong Assavabhokhin.
Mr. Pichet Vipavasuphakorn added, “We hope all AP OPEN HOUSE 2024 participants who joined us today will waste as little of your time as possible. We want you to be able to use the ideas and experiences we’ve shared as valuable lessons to help you make informed decisions about your future career path. And wherever life takes you, always be like an empty glass – ready to absorb and learn as much as possible.”
One of the participants, Ms. Nutchira Polai from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi’s Faculty of Engineering, said, “After listening to what Khun Anuphong and Khun Pichet shared about their experiences and thought processes, it helped us understand the atmosphere we’ve experienced throughout our internship at AP. The seniors in the departments have never refused to hear out our ideas. Besides, we are quite impressed by both senior executives open-mindedness, always all ears to what employees have to say, without any ego. They’re ready to support and encourage employees to be independent responsible leaders in their areas.”
Mr. Puriyod Chuenworrakittipol from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering added, “Personally, I’m really interested in the concept of an outward mindset. I think it’s a concept that could be of real use, especially for people of my generation. There’s so much information coming at us from all sides, especially through social media. When you take the time to understand a person’s needs, objectives, and challenges, you gain insight into their perspective. I can really feel that the team at AP applies this concept because everyone is always willing to share knowledge and listen to you, even though we’re just student interns.
AP OPEN HOUSE 2024 is AP’s intensive internship programme that provides university students the opportunity to go beyond classroom-based theories and experience real-world work environments. Students gain exposure to the full scope of AP’s operations, including engineering, marketing, sales, and design innovation. This year marks the ninth consecutive year of the programme, made even more special by the chance for interns to learn directly from the company’s two founding members, through the conversation and the pocket book “Cheevit Dee Dee Tee Lueak Eng Dai” written to convey AP’s corporate culture, students gain insights into what has shaped AP into the company it is today and how its future is being crafted. Additionally, four outstanding interns were selected this year for a trip to Japan to further their learning with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd.
