New Zealand has become a popular educational destination for both Thai and international students worldwide. In 2023, Thailand ranked among the top five source countries for international student enrolment, alongside China, India, Japan, and South Korea. The total number of Thai student enrolments reached 2,719, marking a 186% increase from the 950 enrolments in 2022. The Private Training Establishment sector, particularly the English Language Sector, received 43% of the enrolments (1,161 students), while the school sector accounted for 33% (905 enrolments).
Popular fields of study among 2023 enrolments of Thai students include language and literature, business and management, sales and marketing, accountancy, and mathematical sciences. However, according to the recent ENZ brand health survey, the number one area of overseas study for Thai students is technology and innovation.
