The University of Phayao has been ranked joint 11th in Thailand in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2024.

On June 12th, 2024, Times Higher Education (THE), a world-renowned university ranking organization based in England, released the results of its 2024 rankings for universities supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), known as the ‘THE Impact Rankings’. These rankings assess universities based on indicators in four key areas: 1) research, 2) university policies and practices (stewardship), 3) engagement with society at local, regional, and global levels (outreach), and 4) teaching.

The University of Phayao has been ranked 401+ out of 1,963 institutions worldwide and joint 11th in Thailand in the latest rankings. This time, the university has excelled in three key areas:

SDG4: Quality Education. The University of Phayao is ranked 6th in Thailand and 101+ in the world for its commitment to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education. The university focuses on promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, creating opportunities for everyone to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to advance sustainable development.

SDG5: Gender Equality. The University of Phayao is ranked 5th in Thailand and 101+ in the world for its commitment to promoting gender equality. The university implements guidelines and policies that support female empowerment, including initiatives for alternative gender promotion and family support policies. Additionally, the university has established on-campus daycare centers to assist students and staff with children. Furthermore, the University of Phayao provides a counseling center staffed by experts to support students and staff directly.

SDG12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The University of Phayao is ranked 9th in Thailand and 201+ in the world for its commitment to responsible consumption and production practices. The university manages waste and hazardous materials within its campus, emphasizing sustainable resource consumption and waste management. Initiatives include reducing single-use plastic waste, promoting waste separation, and implementing take-back programs to reuse materials. These efforts aim to raise awareness and foster a culture of sustainability throughout the university.
