The Water Pouring Ceremony of the President and Elder at the Songkran Festival, held at the University of Phayao in 2024.
On April 24th, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, the President of the University of Phayao, and an Elder participated in a ceremony. They poured water and offered garlands to Phra Phutthaphuchakarak and the statue of King Naresuan the Great. Representatives from the university’s administration, staff, and students presented traditional Lanna-style offerings. Dr. Wuthichai Chairinkam, the Vice President for Student Quality, and Associate Professor Dr. Ekasiddh Wongrath, the President of the School of Phayao Staff Council, delivered a speech asking for forgiveness and prepared to give Sompoi turmeric juice. The President of the University of Phayao then gave blessings to all personnel and representatives from various departments, inviting them to join in asking for blessings from the President and Elder.
During the event, a Lap Mueang competition was held to promote the preservation of knowledge and culture surrounding the preparation of Lap Mueang, as well as to foster unity within the University of Phayao organization. This competition was open to personnel from all departments within the university, resulting in a total of 7 participating teams. The results of the competition were as follows:

- Diao Ko Lap Diao Ko Lap from the School of Architecture and Fine Arts
- Salalab BCA Team from the School of Business and Communication Arts
In addition, each department in Phayao University participated in the snack booth as well. The Water Pouring Ceremony project for the President and Elder during The Songkran Festival at the University of Phayao in the year 2024 aims to preserve and promote Thai traditions and national identity.
