University of Phayao, Equitable Education Fund, World Bank and other Provincial Groups join hands in Work Readiness Project: Exploring and Developing Youth and Adult Working Age Readiness in Thailand
The University of Phayao, in collaboration with Equitable Education Fund (EEF), the World Bank, Phayao Provincial Administrative Organization, Phayao Provincial Statistical Office and Phayao Provincial Education Office are collecting data for youth and adult assessments from Phayao participants between the ages of 15 to 65. This information is used specifically for assisting in formulating and publishing skills development policies for stakeholders in education. Presently, the labor situation in Thailand is quite worrisome. There exists a growing labor skills gap between Thailand and foreign countries. Studies show that many Thai workers lack the necessary skills to match the needs of employers. A recent study by the World Economic Forum found that Thai workers lag behind in important advanced skills and showed that highly skilled employment totaled a dismal 14.40%.
