The University of Phayao and Souphanouvong University’s Discussion of International Cooperation Research on Thai and Lao Languages and Cultures   

On August 23, 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Warawat Sriyaphai, Dr. Sarawut Lordee, and Dr. Warunya Yingyongsak, School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, discussed research cooperation with Mr. Boontawee Kaewboonkong, the Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics, the Vice Dean, Department Head, and lecturers at Souphanouvong University, Luang Prabang, Laos. The research will be focused on Thai-Laos languages and cultures.

In the morning session, Associate Professor Dr. Warawat Sriyaphai, Dr. Sarawut Lordee, and Dr. Warunya Yingyongsak, who are the program chair of Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Thai met the dean and the staffs at Souphanouvong University. The morning meeting included introducing lecturers, and faculty information of Phayao University and Souphanouvong University. Afterward, they discussed academic and research collaboration between the two universities, which included the progress report of the MOU and agreement details of the MOA. The meeting also involved the teaching and learning Lao language at the School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao. Souphanouvong University proposed a plan to send some of their teachers to study for Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao.

In the afternoon session, the Liberal Arts Seminar titled “The Development of Master’s and Doctoral Students in Thai Language Program 5th”, with the theme of “The Language and Literature of Laos Today”, presented by Mr. Singthong Pupom, the Head of the Department of Lao Language and Literature, Souphanouvong University. This seminar was also held via Zoom Meeting for Thai and Laos audiences.
