Dove #LetHerGrow Panel Discussion Unites Leading Voices in “Creating a Future Where Students Can Grow into the Greatest Version of Themselves”

Dove strengthened its #LetHerGrow initiative with a powerful discussion amongst leading experts and authorities entitled “#LetHerGrow – Creating a Future Where Students Can Grow into the Greatest Version of Themselves.” Top voices came together in a momentous occasion to advocate for change through a healthy exchange of ideas and creative solutions that aim to end forced haircuts in Thailand once and for all.

Participants in the discussion sharing their unique perspectives on the topic included, by Dr. Niphon Kongweha, Assistant Secretary-General of the Basic Education Commission, The Ministry of Education on the government’s roadmap on school regulations in relation to social changes; Ms. Pakachat Taychaburapanone, Vice President of Beauty and Personal Care for Dove on making beauty as a source of confidence, not anxiety; Asst. Professor Dr. Jiraporn Arunakul, Adolescent Medicine Specialist and founder of the Facebook page “Take Kids with Us” on the subconscious and conscious factors of childhood development, Dr. Kalayarat Mathewerawong, Head of Training Program from the Girl Guides Association of Thailand (GGAT) on the importance of teachers and schools in developing the potential of young girls, and Ms. Rasami Stewart who was featured in Dove’s #LetHerGrow film, sharing her personal experience with forced haircuts. Each bringing a unique perspective, all participants were unified in their rally for solidarity to end forced haircuts.

Ms. Pakachat Taychaburapanone, Vice President of Beauty and Personal Care for Dove shared, “After the launch of #LetHerGrow, we have seen an immensely positive response with hundreds of thousands of people coming together in a much needed conversation on the persistence of forced haircuts in schools. The purpose of today’s discussion is to continue that call for solidarity, raise public awareness and explore creative solutions in creating a future where students can grow into the greatest version of themselves. The voices in today’s platform are leading authorities in their respective areas and highlight that such regulation reduces more than hair length, it also decreases students’ self-confidence.”

“As part of #LetHerGrow, Dove has also initiated The Growth Fund which highlights our long-term commitment to these efforts with 10 million baht to be allocated in support of the campaign, research and collaboration between schools and educators over the next three years so we can ensure the next generation grows up enjoying a positive relationship with the way they look, and where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety,” she added.
