HSBC Thailand announces top winner of HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition 2022

‘Team Stonk’ from Thammasat University’s Faculty of Economics International Program was named top winner of the ‘HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition 2022’ organized by Mahidol University International College.

Mr. Giorgio Gamba, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Thailand, praised all the four Finalist teams for their remarkable presentations in recommending various strategic solutions to a given business case within just six hours, and as such every team was a winner.

‘Team Stonk’ received a trophy and cash prize of 120,000 Baht and will represent Thailand in the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition this coming June 2022 (online edition).

In the final round of the ‘HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition 2022’, four teams presented the same business case that challenges their problem-solving and analytical thinking, marketing skills, supply chain familiarity and more. The other three teams consisted of Raven Consulting from Mahidol University International College (1st runner-up), 3PJ Consulting from the Faculty of Economics International Program, Thammasat University (2nd runner-up) and Smart Consulting from BBA Thammasat Business School (3rd runner-up).

Mr. Gamba thanked all the judges for giving their time to participate in the hybrid event (in person and virtual) and for their business acumen and valuable insights provided to the students over the challenging three days of competition. 20 teams from six universities in Thailand participated in this year’s competition.

Judges in the Final round included renowned business leaders, namely Mr. William E. Heinecke,  Founder and Chairman of Minor International Plc.; Mr. Thinawat Bhukamana, Managing Partner of Baker & McKenzie Thailand; Mr. Ashwin Rajgopal, Chief Executive Officer for Thailand & Indochina of Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Mr. Tanyapong Thamavaranukupt, President of Ascend Money Co., Ltd.; Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director for Thailand & South East Asia of Hutchison Ports;  and Mr. Giorgio Gamba, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Thailand. 

The special ‘Best Speaker” award went to Ms. Suchada Charoenkittitum of Smart Consulting’ team, BBA Thammasat Business School.

The ‘HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition’ has been running since 2014 to develop future business leaders offering undergraduate students from all over Thailand an opportunity to apply their knowledge, practice critical thinking and problem solving skills and deliver actionable, practical business solutions to the panels of honorary judges from leading business organizations in Thailand.
