Bayer Thai supports Special Award under Prime Minister’s Science Project Award 2021

Ltd., (2nd from Left) Dr. Alexander Raubold, Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs, German Embassy, Bangkok, recently presented the scholarship to the students of International Community School (ICS) who won the Prime Minister’s Science Project Award 2021, Special Award – High School level, in Life Science category on the topic “Using Nanobody-displaying Phages to Attenuate Biofilm Formation of Staphylococcus aureus in Diabetic Foot Infections” at The National Science and Technology Fair 2021, Impact Muang Thong Thani.

The Prime Minister’s Science Project Award 2021 program is one of the highlights of The National Science and Technology Fair 2021, organized by Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and National Science Museum to promote knowledge and skill in science, technology and innovative research development as well as to encourage and recognize the youths and teachers who have created scientific and technological works. 

Bayer Thai supported Prime Minister’s Science Project Award 2021, Special Award for High School level in life science category and collaborated with the German Embassy in Bangkok to support as the Jury Panel and to present the scholarship to the award winner with an aim to support the promotion of science education and development among community and public in Thailand.

Ms.JinA Lee, Managing Director of Bayer Thai Co., Ltd stated that this is a great opportunity for Bayer Thai to be a part of this initiative since education is one of the most critical preconditions for long-term prosperity of the society as a whole. That is why Bayer places such great emphasis on supporting education specifically in the area of science which aligned with our purpose of “Science for a better life” as well as with the government direction to foster innovation and research capability as a cornerstone for innovative-based society and country development., Respectively, we are able to expand science learning opportunities for Thai youth by participating in this Prime Minister’s Science Project Award 2021 program.

This program is also considered as a good platform in inspiring young generation to develop a passion towards innovation and knowledge of life sciences.  

Asst.Prof.Dr. Rawin Raviwong, president of National Science Museum (NSM) revealed “Prime Minister’s Science Award of the year 2021 has been held for the fifth consecutive year by Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation in collaboration with NSM, National Science and Technology Development Agency and Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King. The award aims to honor and enhance the morale of the youth groups who have made contributions and are good examples of scientific application and also gives honor to science teachers for their continuous dedication in promoting and developing their students in science as a platform for international arenas.” 

“Moreover, the award aims to motivate youth to have more inspiration in scientific application and encourage science teachers to help and drive the development of needed skills and learning for youth’s readiness in the 21th century” he said. 

The organizers of the Prime Minister’s Science Award 2021, this year, have also set a special award for youth science projects with supporting from government and private agencies. The special awards will give to outstanding science projects in different areas as well as developing talents and skills in science, technology and innovation of the youth groups. The organizers and supporters have expected to see those youth groups further extend and create benefit from the research projects for the country development. For example, the high school special awards in Life Science are supported by Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. and the Germany Embassy in Bangkok.      

Ms. JinA  also mentioned that “our participation in this program reinforced our continued support of advance education and create opportunities for the future. The company has been supporting the several science education projects in Thailand that ably help to improve science learning among Thai youth, to raise awareness and to inspire both students and teachers to obtain scientific knowledge that is crucial to the development of significant innovations and technologies that will enhance the country’s competitiveness.”
